Migrating from Google's Jira app

Use this guide if your team is moving from Google's older Jira-to-Chat integration or another Jira-to-Chat setup.

  1. Create a Chat Relay connection for a test space and a small Jira project scope.
  2. Create an incoming webhook in the destination Google Chat space and save it in the connection.
  3. Select the issue events and card fields your team needs. Preview the rule and send a test message.
  4. Confirm the message, thread behavior, and delivery log with the Jira and Chat administrators.
  5. Disable the old integration for the same project and events to avoid duplicate messages.
  6. Monitor the new connection's health and delivery log during the first working day.

The old and new integrations may use different rules, fields, timing, and webhook permissions. Recreate each rule deliberately; do not assume settings transfer automatically. Keep the old integration available until the test connection is verified, then remove it according to your organization's change process.

Chat Relay does not import old integration settings or message history. Historical Chat messages remain subject to the old integration and your Workspace retention settings.
